A new £9.1million primary school is “another piece of the jigsaw” in Harlow’s future, according to Harlow council leader Jon Clempner.
The Star revealed on Monday that the 420-place school will open in Newhall in September next year.
And Mr Clempner welcomed the decision, included in Essex County Council’s budget for the coming year.
He said: “There is a recognition by all the authorities involved that for Harlow to achieve its potential, and to continue the vision of Sir Fredrick Gibberd, we need to address the complicated mix of provision of jobs, infrastructure, housing and skills.
“This of course includes ensuring that there is the right provision of school places as new houses. I welcome Essex County Council delivering on the commitment for a new primary school in Newhall. This is another piece of the jigsaw for what I see as a very bright future for Harlow in the coming years.”
The project will be funded by the council’s £263million capital programme.
