Q1: How did the idea for the Newhall Farmers Market originate?

A1: The Newhall Farmers Market is a community-driven initiative that was born out of the passion and dedication from some local residents. These residents, in collaboration with Newhall Projects, saw the need for a vibrant, community-focused market that would bring together local producers, growers and artisans, while also providing a unique and enjoyable experience for Newhall residents and wider community.

Thanks to the vision and efforts of these dedicated people, the Newhall Farmers Market will hopefully become a reality. We are excited to showcase the best of what our community has to offer and create a thriving, sustainable market that will benefit Newhall for years to come.

Q2: What is the licensing and consultation process for the Newhall Farmers Market?

A2: The Newhall Farmers Market has undergone a thorough application and licensing process with Harlow council to ensure it operates legally and safely. As part of this process, Harlow Council are in the process of consulting with local residents and businesses to gather feedback and address any concerns. The market will operate with the appropriate permissions and adhere to relevant regulations.

Q3: Where will the Harlow Farmers Market be held?

A3: The Newhall Farmers Market will be conveniently located on Forge Lane in Newhall, offering easy access to both vendors and visitors. The exact address is Forge Lane, Newhall, Harlow, CM17 9SW.

Q4: Who is responsible for managing the Newhall Farmers Market?

A4: The Newhall Farmers Market is a community-driven initiative led by a small team of dedicated volunteers. These volunteers will work closely with Newhall Projects to bring this exciting event to life. The support from Newhall Projects and SHW has been invaluable in ensuring the success of the market.

Q5: What role do SHW and Newhall Projects play in supporting the Newhall Farmers Market?

A5: Both Newhall Projects and SHW are vital partners in bringing the Newhall Farmers Market to fruition. Q6: How is the Newhall Farmers Market financially supported and what happens to any profits made?

A6: The Newhall Farmers Market is fortunate to have received a small amount of financial support from Newhall Projects to cover the initial setup costs. This backing will be instrumental in bringing the market to life and ensuring its success. As a community-focused initiative, any profits made from the market will be reinvested directly back into the local community. This reinvestment will help support various projects and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for Newhall residents and fostering a strong sense of community spirit.

Q7: I’m worried about parking at the Harlow Farmers Market. What options are available?

A7: We understand that parking is a concern for many people. To alleviate this issue, we have identified two potential parking solutions for visitors:

  1. Visitor parking at the end of Forge Lane/Woodland Way will be available for those who needing to park close to the market. We hope to get local charities to manage this and suggest that people will make a small suggested donation to cover this, enabling the charity to make money.
  2. We would like to enter into discussions with Newhall Primary Academy to see if they would like to open their car park during market days. If this option becomes available, we would suggest a small donation will be charged for parking, with proceeds going towards the Friends of Newhall Primary Academy.

We will encourage visitors to utilise these parking options, but will encourage those living in and local to Newhall to walk or cycle to the market. We are committed to making the Newhall Farmers Market accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
