Marching into spring (quite literally), our gallant gardening gang kept their gloves muddy and their spirits high as Newhall slowly awoke from its winter slumber. With hoes in hand and mowers at the ready, we’ve been waging a noble war against weeds, grass and the occasional rogue fly-tip. So without further ado, here’s what went down in the glorious green days of March!
Weed Wars: The Sequel
Picking up where February left off, we continued our relentless quest to banish weeds—by hoe, by hand and by sheer stubbornness. Every inch of soil in our beds and borders was lovingly tamed to let spring planting shine.
The Mowers Return!
On March 10th, the mighty mowers made their first appearance of 2025. Four of our finest took on the challenge of cutting and strimming Newhall’s sprawling greens—four days, four gardeners, and countless blades of grass bravely fallen.
With the grass still in polite mode (i.e., not going wild yet), our second cut of the month was more selective, letting us focus on finer details elsewhere.
Newhall Projects Progress
With landscaping works kicking off on Bridge Street and near the Community Centre, extra Majestic muscle was drafted in to keep everything ticking over while the main crew held the fort. Expect to see these spaces transform over the coming months!
Weed-Killing Commences
Our first round of weed treatment began mid-month on the Bellway side of the development and rolled into Countryside the following week. Weed beware—we’re watching you.
The Fly-Tipping Mystery Continues
Still no peace in the war on waste—fly-tipping remains a nuisance. We’re inspecting contents and clues to trace anything that might lead us to the culprits. Got intel? Let us know – via community@newhallproject.co.uk. The compostables deserve better company!
- Resident Note: If you are a resident and need a bulky waste collection you can organise this through Harlow Council. TAP: https://bit.ly/HarlowBulkyWasteDisposal for more information and to book.
- Alternatively you can book and take larger items to the Harlow Recycling Centre: TAP: https://bit.ly/HarlowRecyclingCentre for more information.
For residents living in apartment blocks, disposing of items outside the designated bin or bin store areas constitutes fly-tipping. It’s important to note that this is classified as a block-specific issue rather than an estate-wide concern. In such cases, our Estate Manager collaborates with the respective managing agents of the block to address and resolve the matter effectively.
Signs of Spring
Blossoms are bursting across Newhall, and our beloved lime trees are beginning to bud—forming that beautiful avenue along The Chase. Keep your eyes open for floral magic popping up everywhere!
A (Very) Local Legacy
Eight mighty oaks were planted this month—each one lovingly grown by one of the landowners from acorns gathered right here in Newhall. You can spot them proudly taking root along Goldcrest Way, Amble Lane and near Great Auger Green. Local trees with local roots—what could be better?

Conclusion
As the days grow warmer and Newhall begins to bloom, we’re gearing up for another season of growth, care, and (hopefully less) mystery rubbish. Until next time, keep enjoying the green and we’ll keep the garden growing. 🌿👨🌾
